What Is BOTOX®?

Botulinum toxin, better known as BOTOX®, is an injection that seamlessly smoothes out those fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck. It is a popular non-surgical treatment that involves injecting a neuromodulator called botulinum toxin A into specific facial and neck muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment works by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles, preventing them from contracting and forming wrinkles.

What Areas Can Be Treated With BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is FDA-approved to treat several areas of the face to restore volume and smooth to reduce signs of aging. Commonly treated areas include:

More than just aesthetic, BOTOX® is also used to treat teeth clenching, excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis, and migraines by relaxing the tense muscles in those areas. BOTOX® injections can relax the muscles around the jaw, which can reduce pain and tension in the joint. BOTOX® prevents nerve signals from reaching the muscles, so they stop contracting and spasming—helping to reduce pain and discomfort from TMJ.

What Are the Benefits of BOTOX®?

BOTOX® provides a quick and minimally invasive solution for reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Results are typically noticeable within a few days and can last around 3 to 6 months. With consistent treatments, the effects often last longer over time. However, results can vary depending on factors such as the amount of product used and your individual metabolism.

How long does a BOTOX® treatment take?

Your injections can be carried out during the same consultation appointment. The formulation will be injected into the designated areas of your brow or upper face using a small needle. The treatment takes approximately ten minutes to administer.

Is BOTOX® treatment painful?

Many individuals notice only minimal discomfort (such as a pinprick or pinching sensation). After your session, you’ll be free to go about your day.

Are there any side effects of BOTOX®?

BOTOX® and other wrinkle relaxers, known as neuromodulators, have minimal risk of side effects or adverse reactions and are backed by decades of clinical studies. During your consultation, your provider will review any potential risks or concerns to ensure your treatment is both safe and effective.

Can BOTOX® be combined with other treatments?

Yes, BOTOX® can be used in combination with chemical peels or dermal fillers, as well as any other Body+Beauty Lab treatments. We recommend avoiding touching the injected areas for at least 24 hours after treatment, so combinations of treatments may be spaced out for optimal results.
